2 Drivers Arrested in Fatal Hit and Run in Beverly Hills

Attorney Mark Rosenfeld comments on an article in www.DailyNews.com about the arrest of the drivers of two vehicles that left the scene after allegedly fatally striking a man in Beverly Hills in August.

This is an incredibly tragic event that encapsulates what can happen when someone drinks and drives. When people think of DUIs and what could possibly happen, this is what people think about. Although most DUIs don’t involve accidents or even someone who is drunk, cases like this grab the headlines and make us think about what we can do to make the world safer and more of a just place to live.

It is unknown whether the person arrested was believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. California drug laws result in different penalties than driving under the influence.

It is always important to keep an eye out and be vigilant when walking or driving. Don’t allow yourself or your loved ones to drive impaired or even put themselves in a compromising position. If there is an accident, with our without alcohol or drugs, it is a MUST that information be exchanged, and if someone is injured, call for help right away.

There is nothing more valuable than a person’s life and we all must do what we can to protect and safeguard everyone’s well-being. If we are driving, walking or just getting out of our car we must always look both ways and be as safe as possible.

Going out for dinner and drinks is great and people should enjoy life. The key is to do it responsibly. One way to go out on the town responsibly is to take a cab or Uber when you leave your house. If the car stays home, you will surely get a ride back.

Being charged with California’s DUI vehicle code is a pain, but avoiding an offense is not worth putting someone else’s life in danger. The best thing you can do is avoid these types of situations all together.
